Kapa Haka Activities

Kapa Haka Activities

1. Te Puku o Te Ika

I really liked the song and how it was sung. I also like the tune of the song and how it was performed. This one was definitely my favourite.

2. Tamatea Arikinui

I like the poi movements and that they were all in time. I also liked the singing.

3. Te Iti Kahurangi

What I did like like the song and how it was sung. I also liked the movements to the song but I did not like the flute or some instrument that was like that in it.

Poi Rakau

Poi Rakau

The aim is to pass the rakau without droping it or it hitting other players

The puorpes of the game is to imporve hand eye coordination.

If you don't catch it or it is a bad pass you get elimanted.

The last player left stading wins!

My Favourite Waiata

The song I like the most is   Ko Te whaea

I like this song because I like the tune and the way it it is sung.

Also because we sing it at school.

Whether or not I would like to be in a big family?

Whether or not I would like to be in a big family?

No! I would not like to be in a big family. l am 1 of the four siblings in my family. I have 3 very annoying sisters. It is bad enough with them. I cannot imagine how bad and annoying it would be having 9 other sisters or brothers. You would have to have like one minute shower and have to share a room with 2 other people. You would probably hardly ever go out for tea and go on hardly any holidays. You would have to almost travel in a bus!

My Waka Trip to New Zealand

100 Fizzybar street

To Lucy

I am writing to you from on this boat called a waka. It has weird wooden designs on it. I am absolutely soaked, there is no shelter what so ever. It has been raining for ages the sun has just come out. You should have seen the enormous wave we just experience. I am staving, all have to eat is fruit and vegetables. It will soon my turn to paddle again. I am excited but also very nerves to move to New Zealand. I wonder what the people are like. I am excited to try this called Marmite. I hope you are okay.

From Abby

Waka Ama

Would I like to be in a Waka Ama race?

Yes, I would like to be in one because you would learn to work together with other people.

My other reasons are:

It is similar to kayaking which I am quite good at.

Waka Ama looks cool and fun to do.

I like doing things on the water.

The reasons why I would not do it:

Look like a lot of hard work.

It would be hard to get the timing of the paddles just right.

You would have to do a lot of practice whatever the weather is.

I still know that I would like to do it.
